Overdose Prevention Program
Saratoga County Office of Emergency Management is a New York State Department of Health authorized Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (certificate # 1221) serving EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies in the County. We provide naloxone at no cost to any police, fire, or EMS agency in the County for use in responding to 911 calls OR for distribution to the public. To obatin naloxone for your department, contact the County EMS Coordinator. Naloxone no longer requires a prescription in New York State – it can be purchased by any citizen over-the-counter at any pharmacy in NYS. Citizens who have received training in use of naloxone are permitted to carry and use it under the authority of an Opioid Overdose Prevention Program. The Good Samaritan Law protects citizens and responders who call for help and use naloxone to reverse the effects of an overdose.
